A Parish without a Village
Renowned historian W.H. Hoskins said that Kentisbury is a 'Parish without a Village'. What an apt description! A scattered rural parish, with three small hamlets, (Patchole, Kentisbury and Kentisbury Town), with no central core, coast line or focus to the community. However, Kentisbury Parish is full of interesting people, with warm and open hearts!

Nine miles North East of Barnstaple and four miles from the sea at Combe Martin, Kentisbury is in a beautiful area. Over half the parish lies in Exmoor National Park, a designated Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA).

With some 105 households and a population of 298 (in 1996) Kentisbury covers 1274 Hectares (3148 Acres). This makes the Parish slightly smaller than the average for Devon. We are 37th in population and 38th in acreage, out of 63 North Devon parishes.

Click on Tourism for information on the area, Attractions for what to do and where to go, Food and Drink on what to eat when you get there, Leisure... well relax and think about that one and the Town Centre to shop till you drop!
