Witheridge
Witheridge, a small, clean, and well built town with an open square, or market
place in the centre. Is pleasantly situated on the south-eastern acclivity
of the Little Dart River, 10 miles west of Tiverton. Its Parish contains
1399 inhabitants, and 9958 acres of land. The Agricultural Association
of Witheridge and six neighbouring parishes, has a numerous list of members
and holds its meetings and its ploughing matches here. The manor and hundred
of Witheridge was anciently held by the Fitzpayne, Poleyne, Marchant Chichester,
and other families. The Hon. Newton Fellowes is now Lord of the Manor,
and owner of a great part of the parish, and the rest belongs to the Rev.
W.P. Thomas and many smaller free holders.

Woolacombe
Between Braunton and Ilfracombe lie some of Europe's finest and cleanest
beaches, ideal for both families with children and watersports enthusiasts.
The village of Woolacombe can be found along this spectacular golden coastline
of soft sandy beaches, flanked by the dramatic headlands of Baggy Point
and Morte Point. Woolacombes popularity has never been greater and was
voted "Family Holiday of the Year" by the English Tourism Council,
the nomination having been suggested by a regular holiday maker. Almost
3 miles of golden sands stretch from Putsborough in the south to Woolacombe
village itself offering plenty of space for everybody. Bathing is particularly
safe in the shallow waters which are patrolled by lifeguards during the
main summer season.

Yelverton
Yelverton is a quaint little town situated on the main road between Plymouth
and Tavistock, at the junction with the Princetown road. For such a small
place, Yelverton has plenty of nice places to enjoy a drink or leisurely
meal, as well as numerous attractions to keep the visitors amused. Yelverton
is also a Dartmoor town, with plenty of fine scenery and easy access to
the deepest parts of the moor.
